Day 1
EWR → MSY

  • Flew from Newark Airport with a quick layover in Charlotte, arriving in New Orleans at 8:30PM

  • Dinner was at the Palm Court Jazz Cafe, which had a live band playing. We finished around 10:30PM and walked around the French Quarter.

  • We crossed Cafe Du Monde off our list, visiting at 11:30PM because there wasn’t much of a line. Thankfully we did because there would be huge lines the next couple times we would pass by it during the day.

Day 2
NOLA

Breakfast was at Perks Cafe near our airbnb (which was actually Metairie). Darshan decided to match with Saugan once he saw what Sag was wearing.

A quick uber led us back to the French Quarter where we explored some small shops and the New Orleans Jazz Museum before our tour in the afternoon.

Lunch was at Carmo, one of the few veggie friendly restaurants in NOLA (at the time). Sag and I had the sourest ceviche ever but at least Darshan enjoyed his meal. It had started to rain, so we ran to St Roch Market. The bathroom was super cute there and Sag and I had a proper lunch — would def recommend that place again.

Randy’s Tour,
This Way

Randy took us all around the French Quarter, detailing stories of all the ghouls and hauntings of various locales. He’s definitely good at his job because I could barely sleep that night with all the creepiness on my mind

The tour ended at a bar where Sag got caught dancing by a photobooth, much to my and Darshan’s amusement.

We had dinner at Acme Oyster House where we had the best chargrilled oysters ever. Not sure what Darshan was eating though lol

  • Breakfast: Bearcat Cafe in Freret

  • We rented bikes and rode all the way up Esplanade Avenue to the New Orleans City Park, where we walked around the sculpture park and took photos at a nearby pond.

  • After returning our bikes, we headed to the Harrah’s casino to lose some money and eat at Acme’s.

Day 3
NOLA

The rest of the night is blurry and went unphotographed, but I vaguely remember going to Seed, a vegetarian restaurant that is now closed, hitting up some rooftop bar for about an hour nursing a single drink, and going home to play piccolo.

Day 3
MSY → EWR

We ended the trip by heading back to the French Quarter to get one more frozen Irish coffee and procure some last minute souvenirs before ubering to the airport. It was a short trip, but the first of many to come.
